One of the main reasons I feel I'm running better is because I'm really focused on optimizing my poker software. I've been playing cash games exclusively on FullTilt lately, and I can confidently say it's the best place to play cash games online now. First, they updated their software a week or so ago, finally allowing their tables to be resized.
Along with having resizable tables now, there are other great features that can be used on this site (some have always been there, but I'm just now starting to take full advantage). First, you can track observed hands, which is a huuuuuuge plus. So now I can track up to 16 tables (most FT will allow) all day long, and have thousands of hands and stats on my opponents.
We all know Pokertracker and PokerAceHUD, but there are a few other programs that make playing on FT so much better. First there is FullTilt Table Opener, which is an AHK script by 2+2er nanochip, that will open new tables at a given level, and close tables where games break. This helps to keep active tables tracking all day long.
nanochip also has another script called FullTilt Shortcuts, and to simply say, it's the nuts. This script allows you to program it where it will automatically set the bet amount in the FT game window to a pre-set percentage of the amount of money in the pot. In other words, I NEVER HAVE TO TYPE IN A BET OR CLICK THAT STUPID SLIDER AGAIN. It has other cool features as well, but I feel like an idiot not knowing about betpot scripts for the longest time to begin with.
Another program I've been using is Sixth Sense, which will track EVERY table at a given level, even though you can only observe 16 tables at the most. So when I start a session, I can look at every table and see every players' stats in the Sixth Sense lobby, which makes game selection soooooooooo much easier.
Another cool game selection tool I came across is LobbyHUD, which basically puts all the stats for tables that you would normally only see in the PokerAceHUD window (table VPIP, avg. pot, etc.) onto the actual FT lobby. So now I can sort tables by VPIP, which is awesome, and will effectively make the FT Table Opener open up the loosest tables for me.
My final bit for this post about software is about PostgreSQL. Another part of poker data mining I was unaware of until a short while ago. This program is just to maintain the databases in Pokertracker. This program has helped with Pokertracker performance, and helped me organize and create new databases. This took a while for me to figure out, but I have it running smoothly now, and the fact I can now import HH's for observed hands into a seperate DB is definitely a good thing.
