4/11/07

Kind of a meh day for me, although it was again a winning one. I lost $75 playing donkaments (4 SNGs, 3 MTTs), but won $100 at FullTilt 100nl.

I cashed in 2 of the 4 SNGs, and got second in both my cashes. When I got HU on the ones I cashed, I took some sick beats and coolers at the beginning, which may have tilted me a little and got me a bit off my game.

Here's one beat that cost me a win:

Here's a hand from the other one I cashed in, when I get it in again with the best of it HU, and get sucked out on:

Then later throughout the day I tried my luck at 3 MTTs, and I don't think I even made it past the first break in any of them. The tournys were a 20/180, $11 1 rebuy/1 addon, and a $27.50 guaranteed tourny. Here's my only hand from the guaranteed where I get knocked out first hand:

I'm not really bothered by stacking off there on the turn, it was the first hand of the tourny and people play crazy. Also, I was kind of pot committed after my turn raise, so it's hard to fold to the turn 3bet there.

It sux too b/c PS gives you 3k starting chips for this tourny, which I thought was pretty nice. I'll be trying to play these a little more often I think.

So a crappy day at PS, but that's tournament poker for you. High variance, but high reward.

Also throughout the day I played on FT 100nl 6max. For the day I ended up $100 over 2 hours of play, and 300 hands. There were a lot of ups and downs, but I'm glad I won a 2 BI pot to end up for the day. First, here is one hand where I play it non-standard and get burned. Best hand won, but villain played it really weird. I pushed over his C/R b/c his flop C/R frequency was fairly high, and his stats were pretty donkish overall, and I felt like I could represent a set if the PFR had a higher PP. Here's the hand:

Uncalled bet of $30.25 returned to toohigh305

toohigh305 had J:spade: J:heart: (a pair of Jacks) and lost (-$88.65)

Pot Size: $192.30 ($3 Rake)

Kind of gross, I was lost on that whole hand really. Initial PFR was TAGish, so I was hesitant to squeeze PF, which I probably should have. The end result probably would have been the same though, real hard to put that idiot in the SB on AA, based on how he played it.

Oh well, at least I got unstuck from this hand, where I flop the nut flush against a megadonk, stats were 84/23/1.3...

This guy would call any bet with any piece of the flop, a true drooler. He worked his stack up after that hand, and we were playing deep for a short while, but sadly, I was unable to take further advantage of him, as he left shortly after. I was in a dream scenario, playing deep vs a huge donk, and started to wonder if I should loosen up, to try to get into more pots vs him. I later realized I played fine, just waiting for monsters and valuetowning is the way to go vs villains like this one.

So overall, up $25 today, certainly not a great day, but I'm glad it was a winning one, as I felt for the most part I think I "ran bad" as opposed to "played bad" today.
